Are you struggling to diagnose loudspeaker circuit issues, do you feel exposed and unprepared when called out to a problem PAVA system?

Over half the issues you’ll encounter relate to the 100 Volt loudspeaker circuits. Without an impedance meter you will struggle to identify the problem and will lack confidence in your diagnosis.

This makes you look and feel unprofessional and if you’re diagnosis is flawed your client may not be happy to pay those erroneous repair costs; it also taints your company’s reputation.

Our Story

Most fire techs get sent to deal with sound systems armed only with their trusted digital multimeter. As a secondary tool for sound systems the multi meter is very useful, but being able to measure the loudspeaker circuit impedance makes the diagnosis both quicker and more useful.

We’d recommend our clients buy an impedance meter but when we were asked to suggest one, we struggled. What was available was either developed decades ago, complex to use or pricey and sometimes all three.

Pava Test Tool

ProAudium provides a complete technical support service for Fire companies.

We help them win and grow their PAVA business. We offer systems and acoustic design help, commissioning and maintenance services and training so they can do more in-house.

Working closely with our fire and security contractors it was clear their field techs needed a simple and accurate test tool. The Zircle is the result, providing those front line techs with a tool they can use for call outs, maintenance, installation, fault finding and commissioning.

We wanted Zircle to be simple to use, accurate and reasonably priced. But most importantly it should be designed specifically for field techs working on PAVA and other 100 Volt sound systems.

It All Started With the Youth Training Scheme (YTS)

I left school with 8 ‘O’ levels but was no longer prepared to be without money so wanted to learn and earn and to work in electronics. My dad found out Millbank Electronics were offering apprenticeships through the Youth Training Scheme and I applied and got the job.

I progressed from the production line to quality and ended up in technical support.

After Millbank, I did various sales jobs mostly related to emergency sound, then in 1998 started my own company.

In 2014, I read a book called “Good to Great” by Jim Collins. In one of the chapters, it asked: “What can you be the best in the world at?” For us that is maintaining emergency sound systems, now ProAudium’s core expertise.

That drove us to look at how we can provide products that enable others to maintain sound system too but from the perspective of the field technician.

Sound and electronics interested me for most of my life.

I built emergency sound systems at Millbank Electronics, then joined Marconi as part of the London Underground Maintenance team for Jubilee, Northern and East London lines.

I then worked with Nigel becoming Technical and Engineering Director for our company.

Testing and maintaining sound systems has been part of my whole working life and getting quality and reliable test equipment makes all the difference. So in developing the Zircle I was keen that it was accurate, reliable and affordable.

The next step is to develop useful field test equipment to help my fellow field techs.
